When winter hits, it's tempting to retreat to casual clothes that are incredibly cosy but not necessarily stylish to look at. However, just because the nights are longer and the temperatures lower, that doesn't mean you can't forego style for comfort. There are plenty of great fashion trends this season that are sure to keep you snug yet fashionable at the same time.
We understand that not all the current trends work on a practical level when you're going about your day to day life, so we've taken a keen look at this year's fashion trends that are sophisticated yet warm and relaxed - just like you are.
Here's a look at some of our favourite trends for the coming months.
Oversized clothing
Remember the era of skimpy form fitting outfits? Well, rejoice because that time is done. Oversized clothing is back in fashion and along with it are layers! Yes, finally, you can wrap up warm during winter and still look amazing. Pick out a nice, oversized jumper to surround yourself in before adding a blouse and strappy vest underneath to keep extra cosy. This isn't the season for showing off too much skin, so it's great to see fashion trends demonstrate that.
Some catwalks have offered models wearing dozens of layers but that's overkill for any regular person. Stick with a few classy layers, and you'll look amazing yet practical.

Coats, coats and more coats
Hats and blanket coats are also back in - more is definitely more this season!
Some models have been spotted wearing more than one coat at a time, but that's probably too much when walking down the high street. Instead, buy a big thick coat that covers you from head to ankle, and enjoy the snuggly warmth. If you really want to look on trend, you could always add a thinner coat underneath in a contrasting colour, so it stands out a little more.
Consider wearing a light coat in a contrasting colour under a thicker coat to make your winter outfit stand out
Bold colours
Bold, vibrant colours have definitely been in fashion all of 2018 and that trend is set to continue into the winter. Thanks to a reprisal of 1970s and 1980s fashion, both dark browns and pastel shades are very much in vogue. What you choose all comes down to what kind of statement you wish to make. Long oversized brown coats are perfect in terms of current style and when it comes to keeping you warm during those frosty January mornings.
If you feel keen to be a little more daring, why not consider other bold looks, like trying a floral or animal print? We won't blame you if it takes a little more nerve to try, but these prints come back in fashion frequently with the likes of leopard, zebra and snake print making a surprise comeback in recent times. Floral style is always a hit too, with a nice flowing blouse being just the right smart casual attire to wear to work.

Slouchy boots
Continuing the new found trend of comfort is the arrival of slouchy boots. These boots look like regular ankle or knee high boots but with the added bonus of some extra material that creates a slouching style effect. The additional layer of material means you feel instantly warmer, and there's enough flexibility here to tuck your jean legs into the boots.
It's a far better alternative than past boots which required you to leave your jeans on the outside of the boot, plus it looks great too! Pick a pair with a cute buckle for a bit of extra style. The right slouchy boots can make anything you wear look instantly stylish - even if you're just on the school run in a jumper and jeans. A small heel is great for improving your posture too.
Sparkling accessories
Adding accessories to colour blocks isn't anything new, but this season, we're seeing extra sparkle when it comes to jewellery, hair accessories and even shoes. This is where your personality can shine through amongst all the solid colours and oversized clothing. It's the perfect season for adding a little glamour to your daily wear without going overboard.
A classy looking necklace goes a long way to making a solid colour block blouse or jumper look all the more eye catching. You can further accentuate your look by adding a hair band or other accessory that has crystals attached to it.
Why not try a metallic style shoulder bag to brighten your wardrobe?
